International Trade Fair for Promotional Products (IAW) records an increase in exhibitor and visitor numbers / New MP5 player wins top award

More trade visitors than the last show, more exhibitors and more international companies than ever before: this year’s International Trade Fair for Promotional Products (IAW) in Cologne ended its three-day run on a high note. 210 exhibitors presented their products for all sectors of retailing on 22,000 m² of display area. A quarter of these exhibitors came from outside the host country. A total of 14 nations were represented at the Cologne Exhibition Centre, including three important first-timers, China, Turkey and the USA. The number of trade visitors also rose to approx. 6,500, coming from over 40 countries. “This has consolidated our position as the leading trade fair for promotional products and trend-led items,” notes show organizer Kerstin Manke, summing up the show. She also points out that IAW has outperformed other trade shows in this market sector by building on its strengths as a central showcase, order platform and industry meeting place of choice.

A particular highlight of this year’s show was once again the central Trend Forum, which was also the setting for the presentation of the IAW TRENDSELLER Product Award for the best promotional products. The first prize this year went to the handy Prixton MP5 player, which is marketed by Skyron Electronics GmbH in Willich. Measuring a mere 15 x 11 centimetres, the Prixton MP5 can play MP3 files and MPEG-4 file formats. It has a 3.5” TFT display, which shows still images and videos at a high resolution. DVB-T signals can also be received via the integral antenna, turning the device into a mobile TV set. Other prizes went to a portable picnic table in its own bag, brought to the show by European Art Waves in the USA, and the Dr. Fizzio cold therapy device and cosmetic aid distributed by INTER-Trade XXL KG in Wardenburg. For the third time there was also a competition to find the best online shop for the wholesale trade. The winners were chosen and named at the IAW show by the wholesale and trading network for consumer goods, zentrada.network. The first prize went for the second year running to corso.de, a member of the Otto Group, the second prize was awarded to Lamaloli, a company that distributes brand-name children’s fashions throughout Europe, and in third place was the Italian enterprise IDT S.R.L with its website www.branddistribution.com.

The next IAW takes place from 15 to 17 March in Hall 6 at the Cologne Exhibition Centre. More information can be found at: www.iaw-messe.de
