15 years of the “Best Deals in Retail” – IAW celebrates its 30th edition in September


The International Trade Fair for Retail Promotions and Imports (IAW) in Cologne is taking place from 18th until 20th September under special circumstances. This is because the orders fair for the retail trade – the biggest of its kind in Europe – is celebrating its 30th edition, and looking back on 15 years of expertise in the area of promotional products, trendy products and volume business. “It is naturally the case that I’m very pleased about having organised 30 trade fairs. But the numbers don’t matter so much – it’s the development of the content of the IAW that’s the most important factor. These days, we don’t just reflect the current mood in the sector. Through our trade fair partners, we provide substantive forecasts on the future of the retail trade, which has ultimately earned us a reputation as a barometer for trends,” says Kerstin Manke in eager anticipation of the anniversary.
And the International Trade Fair for Retail Promotions and Imports has consistently demonstrated its reputation as a barometer for trends in an entire sector. Over the three days of the trade fair, some 9,000 visitors make their way to halls 6 and 9 of the exhibition centre in Cologne to meet with approximately 350 exhibitors from all over the world. The exhibitors offer goods from every retail category, with buyers placing direct orders for the upcoming season at the trade fair stands. In this way, the most reasonable prices are negotiated, whether they are for toys, pharmaceuticals, seasonal goods, food, textiles or much more.
In recent years, a high quality support programme has also become established which attracts many visitors to attend the IAW in its own right. Numerous lectures, workshops and presentations by top-level speakers provide exclusive insights into the most important topics in the areas of e-commerce, multichannel marketing and stationary retail. The “e-commerce quarter” offers space for services and offerings which are explicitly customised to digital retail. And the catering stands provide the opportunity to grab a quick refreshment or enter into interesting networking discussions. All the offers at the IAW are free of charge to the visitors.
